HI Roll On Remedies

My 1st experience with an aromatherapy roll on was from Tisserand around 6 years ago. It was from the Rose range and I was instantly attracted by the ease of the roll on ball attached and how it is so fuss-free when applying something so precious and therapeutic. I then had a few actually: De-stress, Travel, Menthol Breathe, Energy and also Sweet Dreams. Yes, I am BIG fan of the brand and the man. That’s me alright, if I like something I’ll get various types of the same item. I am THE heaven-sent customer. 😉

The next brand I like that provides the aromatherapy roll on was Young Living. I am huge fan of the Breathe Again Roll On! It was helpful many times in nipping the buds of an incoming migraine. It was too pricey for me though, and when a bottle broke into pieces for no reason why one hot day, I really did feel the huge pinch of the price tag. And when I exhausted my last bottle I thought, “why not make my own”? Exactly.

I have been recycling my many essential oil bottles and whipping up my own remedies for my own family’s usage and also for my 2 best friends as part of their birthday gifts. The favorite seems to be the blend for sinuses, colds, headaches and migraines. So I made Breathe Remedyâ„¢. It is quite similar to the Breathe Synergy Blendâ„¢ that I made recently here. It is a concise blend of Peppermint, Eucalyptus smithii, Rosemary Basil and Frankincense in a base of wholesome carrier oils. *Note: I had forgotten to include Frankincense in this bottle’s label. Booboo.*

My bestie’s niece, Aqilah, fell in love with her auntie’s roll on and requested for something to help her with focusing in school and to avoid falling asleep in class! So I made a customized one for her and named it what else, *surprise* Aqilah’s Study Remedyâ„¢. Hers is a complex bouquet of Rosemary, Grapefruit, Cedarwood, Petitgrain, Geranium, Lavender, Basil and Peppermint. Phewww! When I tried her blend on my wrist, I felt so alert and refreshed and actually felt quite peckish after 20minutes. How’s that for stimulation, huh? 🙂

The benefits of massage and its absence..

Ok I bet the title is a misleading one..

Worry not, I am still a preacher and practitioner of massage therapies and I am still waxing lyrical about the various benefits of touch.

Its September now. I have been out of work in the spa for a good 2 months and few days. Yup, I clearly remember that. But what I do not for the life of me remember, is my last full body massage! Horror horror.. I make sure to have a well deserved massage at least once a month, preferring always to have more deep pressure focus on my back, head & feet. And oh I love to have these loving hands massaged too, truly a luxury! Its receiving time after lots of giving.

But no really, I cannot figure out when was my last massage. To think about it through, I discovered a streak of rainbow peeping out of this dark cloud. Like a well meaning easily missed secret message behind this uneventful episode of mine in the body/mind/spirit dept..

I think my body just did NOT need a massage that badly as always. Why? I wish I can say that I have converted to become a zealous health nut and working out daily but no. Neither have I been doing any much dieting. In fact, diet has been thrown out of the window since it was the festive Eid season.

It’s a mystery no more. The miraculous and almost magical oils from Young Living are the ones creditable.
My daily ritual:
1. Consume 3-5 drops of Lemon in water twice daily to balance alkaline in the body, cleanse the body inside out and really energizing my system.
2. Diffuse oils depending on need, mood and weather.
(a) Thieves oil purifies air powerfully, supports immune system.
(b) Peace & Calming calms not only my 2 yr old boy, but his parents too!
(c) RC is what we reached for A LOT these days, due to the haze and also my chest infection and son’s stubborn cough.
3. Inhaling the oils anytime through out the day. I bring a small bag of them anywhere I go. If I have to pack light, I will take 2 bottles only. And the 2 would normally be Lavender and the Breathe Again Roll On which works not only for respiratory issues but helps a migraine and nausea episode too.
4. Applying the oils when needed. This includes a variety really!

They work hard everyday for us!

So I think its fair to say these oils are taking care of me while I live my days without my quintessential massages. I may feel the normal exhaustion and still lament about lack of sleep but I get by. I just have much lesser body aches and tensions, plus I am free from period pains! Hurray! And if I were to feel any discomfort after the usage of the oils, it would just be a part of the healing crisis.

Case in point: After days of eating rich festive goodies, my body went on complete ‘rubbishing out’ mode after I continued consuming Lemon. My skin broke out and I went into thirst overdrive! My eczema flared up because the skin being the biggest organ is expelling out my accumulated toxins.

I would not complain to have both oils and massages though, but I am just grateful to have these precious oils with me. I know that the day to need that massage will come verrrry soon but for now lets slick the oils on.

Introduction: Holistic Isranfi’s 1st Aid

Hello again all!

One of my greatest passions have always been Aromatherapy.. My happiest & proud moments in life are many, but one was to attain ITEC & IFA Diploma in Aromatherapy. I am also certified with ITEC Diplomas in Anatomy & Physiology & Swedish Massage- although now it has been renamed Holistic Massage.

Kudos to Spa Botanica, Asia’s 1st garden spa in sponsoring me and 6 other individuals from different walks of life with the professional education and oh-my-god, 6 months long of rigorous training and mentoring by the spa industry’s well-known and esteemed trainers and mentors prior to its inception in 2002. It was a truly memorable and precious experience, one that I believe I’m very very blessed to hold forever in me.

Anyway.. Time has passed and with it too, yours truly. Branching out my overwhelming passion into sharing & training others with what knowledge I have been armed with is a natural move. I have started a series of home workshops on Aromatherapy, massages and Reiki as well at Holistic Isranfi– my therapy biz at home. Here, I’d like to add on some of my workshop notes to share with all. I believe that essential oils SHOULD be  in your 1st Aid Box too..

These 3 essential oils are what I would recommend every household to have, (especially if you have children!)

I have never preached enough about them really… Lavender, Peppermint & Tea Tree!

My Recipe : Prenatal Aroma Body Oil

My DIY prenatal oil ingredients..

Ok. So, I am an ITEC & IFA qualified aromatherapist. So I am 7+ mths pregnant for the 1st time and I should be worried about the nemesis by the name of “stretch marks” or striae (singular stria), as they are called in dermatology. So I should be doing my very own blend of skincare right? And not scramble to the nearest pharm AGAIN for creams, lotions & potions right? SO… This is what I’m up to then.. Wheeeeeee! 🙂

I’ve been mixing my own facial oils, massage oils, hair & scalp oils for my family and both for me and husband’s usage so now I’m gonna STOP giving credit and profit to Palmer’s and its lovely cocoa butter and make use of my lovely (and expensive) essential oils for my belly, breasts and wherever that this baby is stretching me and my largest organ out to! (basically everywhere!)

Thanks to Tisserand, one of my fav aromatherapy brands of course..
I love the Face & Body Pure Blending Oil, as it contains all the goodies you want in a base oil. There’s organic moringa, sesame, jojoba and is rich in antioxidants and Omega 6 and 9. Mix it with 3 extra good friends this pregnant woman can have- Lavender, Frankincense & Rose.. I could’ve used Mandarin instead, since its cheaper but what the heck.. Live and let live.. What better time to splurge on Rose anyway??..

Now, a disclaimer– I do this blend because I love these oils, and I like it obviously because its effective and powerful as a skin oil; but I won’t go around telling people this is the only good blend ok? No reader of this post should too. There’s loads of good skin recipes, easier on the budget too.. But during pregnancy, you’d be told that its prudent to use only Lavender. Bahhh! Bullshit. I ‘m sick and tired of sooo many spas and also other therapists pressing too much on contraindications during pregnancy! I was rejected to have a massage by countless spas and massage places just cos I was pregnant! Perhaps they’re not qualified, and if it’s that’s the case, I truly appreciate their honest rejection. But some tell me I”M NOT SUPPOSED TO HAVE MASSAGES OR BE IN CONTACT WITH ESSENTIAL OILS. Hullo, I’m pregnant, NOT SICK AND AILING. Needless to say, I couldn’t be bothered at all to tell them I’m a therapist AND a trainer.. Sigh.

A pregnancy is a period that SHOULD NOT be ignored, in fact it’s a time to be pampered more and much generously.. Hell, if i could do me own pre-natal massage, I’d be doing it everyday! But see, I can’t. So I make my own potions, lotions and elixirs.. And I’m happy. 😉

Here’s a guide:

20 ml Base Oil 

5 drops Lavender

3 (teeny tiny stingy) drops of Rose

3 drops of Frankincense

Shake/Stir it well, store in glass amber bottle and away from sunlight. I bet this amount won’t last long for me, but I’d like to improvise as I go along- so smaller amounts are goooood.
